USA youth international Marc Pelosi is making a positive impression with the Liverpool academy.
The 17-year old midfielder passed up the chance to join a MLS club and also turned down offers from UCLA to try his luck with the Premier League giants and so far it has been a inspired decision as he is developing very well on Merseyside.
"He reminds me of Gareth Barry of Man City," Liverpool's academy director Frank McParland told Goal.com.
"We think he has really high potential."
And McParland suggested that Pelosi has been able to buck the trend as to what most young American players use as kickstart in their careers.
"I think there are lots of players in America who can play here, the problem is the work permits situation," he added.
"That's [the work permit system] not going to change so it's progressive clubs who will put players into feeder clubs and that's going to be the best market for the American player."
