Calderwood wants Aberdeen to join Old Firm Euro party

Aberdeen boss Jimmy Calderwood is confident of success at Dnipro in the second-leg of their UEFA Cup tie.

Dons were held 0-0 at Pittodrie in the first-leg and Calderwood said: "The Old Firm are flying the Scottish flag with pride in the Champions League and the national team is also doing well.

"We would love to do our bit as well by reaching the groups stages of the Uefa Cup for the first time. That would, of course, mean a great deal to the club financially.

"They are now sitting second bottom of their league and have lost nine goals in three games, so, that might affect their confidence.

"They certainly knew they were in a game in the first leg and their coach admitted he was surprised by our aggression and our energy and fitness. We produced a great performance in the first leg.

"I don't think they'll have any surprises for us and if we play like we did at home we have a tremendous chance.

But it will have to be as good as it was then. The only thing missing was a goal or two."
