Colin Calderwood could be returning to relegated Newcastle United.

The Evening Chronicle says Calderwood, who left United's coaching staff following the end of the season, has been asked to return and lend coach Chris Hughton a hand in preseason training.

Hughton is taking charge as Newcastle continue takeover talks with interested parties.
