Citing the club's Christmas party as an example, Calderon explained: "The night when we celebrated Christmas at the Bernabeu with the players, coaches and employees was incredible.

"To see Julio Baptista singing and playing the guitar, Robinho, Marcelo, (Mahamadou) Diarra and (Royston) Drenthe singing together, Sergio Ramos and our own Raul dancing ... it was incredible.

"Some years ago, in the era of the Galacticos, it was almost a funeral.

"I was there as a director and nobody was happy. Two months before resigning, Florentino (Perez) was limited to offer: 'Merry Christmas to all'. The tables were in silence and it was not a family, but a group of professionals where each one left on his own.

"We have returned to be a family and the results are proof this is the way to go."
