Aston Villa reserve defender Reece Caira has turned down the opportunity to make it with the Villans to sign for Australian A-League new boys Western Sydney Wanderers, reports the Birmingham Mail. Caira is one of twelve official signings as the Wanderers get ready for life in the Australian top flight.
The 19-year-old defender caught the eye of manager Tony Popovic during a recent trip to England and has been on trial with the Wanderers since, ending a three and a half year stint with the Villa youth set-up.
"I've always been interested to work with Popovic and I've finally got the chance," Caira told the Australian Associated Press.
He went on to say "Hopefully I can have a few good seasons here ... to help me get back into a European club (and) help keep up my progress with the Young Socceroos."
