Cahill urges NYRB to recoil from Toronto draw

Tim Cahill feels New York Red Bulls need to return to top form following their lacklustre draw with Toronto FC last week.

The Red Bulls played out a 0-0 draw at BMO Field, forcing them to drop four points behind Eastern Conference leaders Sporting Kansas City, and Cahill is looking for a much-improved showing when overall MLS leaders Real Salt Lake come to town this weekend.

“I think we definitely need to bounce back. It was a poor display at Toronto, you see the result, we picked up a point,” he said.

“I don’t think we’re lucky because I don’t think that would bring it either but you know the circumstances the whole game, I think even a few refereeing decisions would have changed the game so overall we just go to get over it and play a very good Real Salt Lake team that’s playing great football at the minute.”

The former Everton star added: “I think as a footballing team they look the most complete at the minute. They’re scoring their goals and obviously not conceding a lot but there they seem to get the edge on a lot of teams but you know for us we’re very good at home.”
