Cahill: Time for Bolton players to ask themselves tough questions

Bolton Wanderers defender Gary Cahill admits they need to ask themselves some tough questions after another disappointing defeat to Sunderland.

The Trotters were beaten 2-0 at home by the Black Cats on Saturday.

Cahill said: "A few of the lads, myself included, just needs to have a look and question themselves that they are doing enough. And I am sure we will turn it around because we have got those players in there who can do that. We have got the character to do that.

"But it is tough at the minute. I think there has been more inconsistency than anything else. You can maybe afford to carry one player but you cannot afford to carry a handful and it has been different players in different games.

"We are not pointing fingers at individuals. Collectively, there has been too much up and down. We need to get more consistent playing at a higher level because all the boys here are capable of performing at a higher level in this Premier League. They have done it year in, year out."
