New York Red Bull general manager Erik Soler has revealed that Tim Cahill was the ‘technical and physical presence’ the club was looking for.
The Australian midfielder has signed a three-year, $1.5million deal with the MLS club, joining from Everton, and Soler was delighted to have captured the 32-year old who will earn around $4.6m during his time at the Red Bull Arena.
“We’re absolutely thrilled to bring in a player of Tim’s calibre to the Red Bulls,” Soler said.
“He’s the technical, physical presence we’ve been looking to add, and he brings a wealth of experience to our club having played in some of the highest levels of international soccer.
“Tim is a proven leader both on and off the field, and we believe he can help us immediately in our quest to win the MLS Cup this season.”
