Cahill returns to Socceroos squad with Schwarzer poised to make history

Holger Osieck has named his 22-man Australian squad for an upcoming friendly as well as a 2014 World Cup qualifier.

The Socceroos take on Lebanon in Beirut on Thursday, September 6 as a tune-up for their WC qualifier against Jordan in Amman on Tuesday, September 11.

Returning to the squad that lost 3-1 to Scotland earlier this month is New York Red Bull star Tim Cahill along with Busan I'Park midfielder Matt McKay, Consadole Sapporo defender Jade North, Hertha Berlin striker Nikita Rukavytsya, FC Utrecht winger Adam Sarota and Al Arabi centre-half Matthew Spiranovic.

Fulham goalkeeper Mark Schwarzer is set to become the first Australian to notch up 100 caps as the Socceroos prepare to take on both Lebanon and Jordan for the first time at senior international level.

Australia currently sits third on the Group B table with two points from two matches following draws with Oman (0-0) and Japan (1-1) whilst Jordan have taken one point from two matches which has included a 1-1 result with Iraq and 6-0 loss to Japan.
