Cahill to the rescue for Everton

Tim Cahill has done it again for Everton, this time scoring a late goal to give them a 3-2 win over Blackburn Rovers at Ewood Park. The Australian international knocked the ball into the back of the net in the final minute of the match after some good lead-up play from Ayegbeni Yakubu to send visiting Toffees fans into raptures and moving them closer to a top-seven finish.

The game started well for Everton when Mikel Arteta converted a fourth-minute penalty and the scoreline remained at 1-0 until the 69th minute when Blackburn's Steven Nzonzi hit a 30-yard drive past Tim Howard, equalising for the home side.

Ten minutes later, Yakubu made it 2-1 when he bundled a ball home after a Leighton Baines throw-in but Rovers hit back within two minutes through Jason Roberts who struck from 20 yards to tie it up again.

But enter Cahill who managed to grab the winner for Everton in the dying stages and put them within a point of seventh-placed Aston Villa and two points in arrears of Liverpool in sixth.
