Cahill proud to be a part of Australian team

Tim Cahill is proud to be a part of the Australian national team despite their early exit from the World Cup. The Socceroos completed a brilliant comeback against Serbia this morning to win 2-1 following their opening game loss to Germany and second match draw with Ghana and Cahill was full of pride for the spirit and strength the side showed.

"We won the game. The way we came back in the Ghana game showed our spirit," the 29-year-old told Goal.com. "This is what we do. We have to answer questions not only to the media but to ourselves.

"We just beat Serbia 2-1 and it is a fantastic result.

"Germany are a good team and are one of the best teams in the world. I am very proud. I am proud to be part of this team.

"The odds were against us after the Germany game. Four points in a competition like this was exceptional and we were unlucky not to go through.

"We were just out there to win the game. It was all up it the air tonight and the positive is that we have won tonight.

"It was a crazy game. We knew what we had to do. In the second half we went all out attack and put them under pressure.

"All respect to the lads, we have been up against it. Our own media have been hammering us but tonight, we were fantastic.

"I'm just glad to find the net because this time last week, my World Cup was over. Tonight we did everything."
