Cahill never ceases to amaze NYRB boss Petke

Tim Cahill was back on the scoresheet for New York Red Bulls on the weekend.

The Australian midfielder damaged ligaments in his ankle in the September 1 victory over DC United but was back in scoring form in Sunday's 1-1 draw with Seattle Sounders at CenturyLink Field after returning to the fray against FC Dallas last weekend.

Cahill gave the Red Bulls a share of the points with a curling, first-time finish in the 76th minute and his efforts were certainly not lost on his coach Mike Petke.

"Tim never ceases to amaze me - with his work rate, his attitude, his rallying the troops. It's just another game for Tim," he said.

And Petke was full of praise for the rest of the New York team who helped the club remain top of the overall MLS standings.

"I'm extremely proud of my guys. Not only to get a result here, but to play very (well) and to put pressure all over a phenomenal team like Seattle, and to have many scoring opportunities - they had some as well," he added.

"To come in and not be intimidated by this crowd and with the recent form of Seattle and in a very stressful environment, I'm very proud of them."
