Tim Cahill scored his sixth goal of the Premier League season overnight but it wasn't enough as Everton were beaten 2-1 by Arsenal at Goodison Park. The Gunners made the most of Chelsea's slip up to Sunderland by taking maximum points on the road from a tough encounter with the Toffees, who had not been beaten in seven games prior to this.
Bacary Sagan struck viciously from a tight angle to get the visitors off the mark in the 35th minute before Gunners skipper Cesc Fabregas grabbed his second league goal of the season three minutes into the second half after combining with Moroccan striker Marouane Chamakh.
Cahill got Everton back into the contest when he fired home with two minutes remaining after Louis Saha knocked the ball down into his path but it wasn't enough as the Toffees dropped to 13th whilst Arsenal went within two points of league leaders Chelsea who lost 3-0 at home to the Black Cats.
