Cahill heads NYRB to dramatic draw against New England

Tim Cahill was on hand to help New York Red Bulls to a dramatic 2-2 draw with New England Revolution on the weekend.

The Australian international looped home a header in the 97th minute at Red Bull Arena as New York stitched up a playoff spot for the 2013 MLS season.

Fabian Espindola had edged the Red Bulls in front in the 14th minute before Lee Nguyen and Diego Fagundez had the ten-man Revs in front by the first minute of stoppage time.

But Cahill put himself in the right spot to calmly nod Revs keeper Matt Reis' punch back over his head and into the back of the net to put New York top of the Eastern Conference table.

After the match, Cahill was slightly disappointed that the Red Bulls allowed themselves into that situation in the first place but was thrilled to contribute to the vital draw.

"We should have never put ourselves in that position, but you get times in games and situations where you get tested; today we got tested big time," he said.

Cahill had to trade in his club duties for some upcoming action with the Socceroos who take on France in Paris next weekend (October 12 AEST) and Canada in London four days later.
