Bolton Wanderers defender Gary Cahill has hailed the impact made by new skipper Kevin Davies.

"Kev has been brilliant this season and he's really taken to the captaincy," said the 22-year-old centre-half.

"All the lads have backed him 100 per cent and he leads by example. That's the way he does it - and if everyone followed the kind of effort he puts in on the pitch then we'd definitely be in the top half of the table.

"Once you score goals, your confidence gets high. Kev goes out there every week now thinking he is going to score."
