Tim Cahill admits he cannot wait to get the 2014 Major League Soccer season underway.
The former Everton star had a very successful debut campaign with New York Red Bulls in 2013, scoring 11 goals as they took out the Supporters' Shield, and is due back at preseason training this week.
Ahead of his return trip to the US, Cahill told AAP that he is looking forward to playing regularly in the lead-up to Australia's World Cup campaign which will occur during the MLS midseason.
"I'm buzzing," Cahill said.
"I'm signed to New York Red Bulls for three years and I'm looking forward to staying fit so I can make sure I'm ready to be available for a big tournament in June."
