Tim Cahill and Socceroos teammates were on hand to give Australian boxing champion Danny Green some support in Sydney yesterday.

Green is preparing for a fight against South African Anthony van Niekerk and welcomed some of the Socceroos squad to see him train at Parramatta Stadium.

The former WBA light-heavyweight champion said he was thrilled to have champions such as Tim Cahill see how he goes about his training.

"I appreciate the fact that some of the guys took time out to come and see me train," Green said yesterday.

"Tim Cahill has superstar status in the game of football and it's the biggest game in the world but he was just a cool, down-to-earth bloke. I know he likes boxing and I love his goal celebration. It's a classic."

Cahill said he was keen to do some training with Green in the English Premier League off-season.
