Tim Cahill and Dax McCarty are both delighted with how their midfield relationship is coming along for New York Red Bull.
The Australian ace and the former FC Dallas star were the links in the Red Bulls 4-1 come-from-behind win over Toronto FC on the weekend and both players are happy with how things are moving along in the centre of the pitch with the MLS playoffs just around the corner.
"We want to win every ball, we want to clear every ball and we want to run, do other peoples job and do our own job," said Cahill after the win which was supplied by three assists and a goal from star striker Thierry Henry.
"It feels the best combination at the moment for what the team has got. It's a nice partnership, and I suppose it's a good partnership up front with the wingers The engine's there, and that's all that matters."
McCarty added: "I really enjoy playing with Tim in the middle. I think he hit the nail on the head: In this league, you play against some pretty athletic midfields, some pretty good midfields.
"Obviously with our older guys, Rafa (Marquez), Teemu (Tainio), they're more experienced guys, their positioning is fantastic; but sometimes you need guys that can cover some grounds in there.
"With me, I just try to make sure we're solid defensively, and then I let our special players that can attack and go forward make magic."
