Cahill and Everton through to Europa group stage

Everton have eased through to the group stages of the Eruopa League with a 5-1 aggregate win over Czech Republic's Sigma Olomouc.

The Toffees took a 4-0 lead into the away leg after an easy romp at Goodison Park last week and came away with a 1-1 draw.

Tim Cahill was on the subs bench but was not risked by David Moyes as the Toffees prepare for Wigan Athletic in the Premier League on Sunday.

Elsewhere in Europe, Dutch club FC Twente did enough to overcome Azerbaijan outfit FK Qarabag despite a 0-0 draw in the away leg.

Twente went through 3-1 on aggregate after a solid home win in the first leg and it gives young Australian striker Nikita Rukavytsya a chance for further experience in Europe.

Swiss club FC Basel easily accounted for another Azerbaijan club FK Baku, winning 5-1 at home and 8-2 on aggregate allowing Socceroo Scott Chipperfield to show his wares on the European stage.

Harry Kewell's Galatasaray had a 1-1 away draw with FC Levadia Tallinn but got through 6-1 on aggregate but it was a different story for fellow Aussies Luke Wilkshire and Ante Covic whose teams were both eliminated.

Wilkshire's Dinamo Moscow could not turn around the 2-1 fist leg away loss to Bulgarian's CSKA Sofia, being held to a scoreless draw at home whilst Covic's Elfsborg defeated Italians Lazio at home 1-0 but it wasn't enough as they went down 3-0 in the first leg.
