Cagliari president Tommaso Giulini has explained the decision to sell Radja Nainggolan to AS Roma.

Roma completed the outright signing of Nainggolan last week.

“Nainggolan to Roma was the most logical ending," Giulini told Corriere dello Sport.

“He wanted the Giallorossi, and it's only right that Roma kept him, because he's an amazing player who is very attached to that shirt.

“There were some teams - some of them Italian -, who at various points of the deal expressed a lot of interest in him.

“The transfer market dictates his value. Until Sunday anything could have happened, but there was never a real risk of him leaving Roma.

“Nainggolan will end his career at Cagliari, there's already a verbal agreement with him."
