Cagliari goalkeeper Federico Marchetti is delighted with his call-up to the Italy squad.

"This call is a prize for the entire squad," smiled Marchetti. "I thank Cagliari, who allowed me to reach this stage of my career."

He has been promoted to second choice for Wednesday's test in Basel against Switzerland.

"Being the only other goalkeeper in the list alongside Gianluigi Buffon is a real sign of trust in my abilities.

"The match with Switzerland is just a friendly and the road to the World Cup is still long. I have to focus on doing well for Cagliari, keeping my feet on the ground and then we'll see what happens in June.

"I will only think about the Nazionale in two days, after I have completed training with my club and given them my full attention."
