Cagliari boss Roberto Donadoni has played down expectations of European qualification.
The Sardinian outfit beat Lazio 1-0 at the weekend and stay in ninth place in the table.
âOur objective is survival,â Donadoni told Radio anch'io lo Sport. âOur job is that of imposing ourselves to face every game with dedication like we did yesterday against a great Lazio.
âOurs is a team made up of good players who recognise their own abilities. There is the desire to improve and this spirit makes us cohesive.
âIf our position in the table gives us a certain tranquility then the pressures are inferior. I arrived here with the club in an inadequate position. Now we have overcome the situation, but we must keep our feet on the ground.
âThe positive note is that we have faced the games with the consciousness of being able to play football and the results have shown that.
âOur objective is survival, but it's not as if once we realise it we'll pull the oars into the boat.
âThe word give up doesn't exist because I have too much respect for my job and the players available to me.â
