Newcastle United midfielder Yohan Cabaye has defended the club's French players.

Toon dodged the drop only by beating QPR last Sunday.

But French midfielder Cabaye said: "The new French players will have time to prepare in pre-season.

"That will help. It's very difficult to adapt quickly, especially moving in January.

"We have quality and can be much higher in the table."
