Willy Caballero fought back tears as he spoke on the Wembley pitch in the wake of Manchester City's Capital One Cup final triumph on Sunday.
The Argentine keeper was the hero for City as they defeated Liverpool 3-1 on penalties after it ended 1-1 at the end of 120 minutes.
Caballero, who made six appearances in the competition ahead of regular number one Joe Hart, admitted it was an emotional moment after he made three saves in the shootout to help City to a fourth League Cup and a second in three seasons.
"It's amazing, to win this cup, for me it's amazing," Caballero, whose eyes welled with tears, said on Sky Sports.
"It was a hard week for me but we had a talk that we could do it. It is fantastic for the blue people.
"It's important, emotional for me, my family, to be in this great team. It is a first trophy for me and for my family in Argentina."
Caballero's position in the team had been questioned in the lead-up to the game but he was happy to simply let his know-how take over in what was a day to remember for the 34-year-old.
He added: "I tried to see all the penalties last night, but my intuition got me through."
