Caballero eager to make amends for Man City in Hart absence

Manchester City back-up goalkeeper Willy Caballero is eager to make amends for his horror show in the defeat against Tottenham when he steps into replace Joe Hart.

Hart is expected to miss Saturday's league game against Southampton and Tuesday's Capital One Cup quarter-final against Hull City due to a hamstring injury sustained against Juventus on Wednesday.

Caballero's last performance for City came in the 4-1 defeat against Spurs at White Hart Lane in September and he is now looking to atone for such a subpar performance.

The Argentinean said: "It is always the case when you play badly or commit errors, you hope to play another game to put it behind you, to show that you are capable and that you deserve to be playing for an important team like City. Hopefully that chance will come and I will be able to do that.

"Is it tough to be a No 2 'keeper? Sometimes, yes, sometimes no, if you're training well and you're prepared. You see the truth in a real game.

"In my last one [against Tottenham] I made a mistake but these things can happen even if you're playing every week.

"When I have not had the chance to avenge the error the following week means the whole world still is thinking about it. But what is important is to be calm and work every day and wait."
