Arsenal have lodged an opening bid for Borussia Dortmund defender Sokratis Papastathopoulos.

Kicker says the Gunners are pushing to sign the Greece international this week.

An opening offer of €15m has been lodged for Sokratis, who has already held talks with the Gunners over personal terms.

BVB chief Michael Zorc has delivered their response, demanding an extra €3m to sell the defender.

Zorc has little wriggle room, however, with Sokratis about to enter the final year of his BVB deal.
