Borussia Dortmund defender Neven Subotic has spoken of missing out on a move to Middlesbrough.
Subotic failed a medical last week on Teesside, which saw the deal called off. The Serb has since undergone rib surgery.
"It is doubly disappointing: Both the desired change and the joy to be able to play football again, are first to go," the central defender told Sport1.
"But now the disappointment has been replaced by a great motivation, it's again especially up to me to prove myself. I will come back and with all the energy trying to fulfill my dream."
Asked if he could yet join Boro in January, Subotic added: "We will see how the recovery proceeds. It is still too early for further statements."
