Middlesbrough are closing on a deal for Borussia Dortmund defender Neven Subotic.

German sources say Boro have had a €6 million bid for the Serb accepted by BVB.

Subotic had also been linked with Liverpool, Arsenal and Sunderland in recent days.

The 27 year-old was permitted by BVB to leave preseason training and fly to Teesside last night. Subotic is expected to hold talks with Boro this morning.

"The signs are clear that he will leave. I really expect him not to come back," conceded BVB coach Thomas Tuchel.
