Jake Buxton admits he is excited to be back in contention for Derby County following his long-term injury.

30-year-old defender Buxton had been out since March due to a back problem which required surgery and the defender has now finally made a return to full fitness.

Upon his return, Buxton has expressed his excitement and is eager to get back on the pitch once again.

Ahead of the Championship season opener against Bolton this weekend, Buxton said: "I'm champing at the bit to get back out there with the lads.

"There's been a change of management and staff and so there is a chance to impress and show them what I'm about but at the moment I'm missing out on that.

"I've not played since the start of March and I'm really determined to get back and pull on a Derby County shirt again."
