Buttner family to 'caravan-it' to Man Utd en masse

Alexander Buttner is set to spark mass immigration from Holland.

Manchester United's £4million left-back is from a family of travellers, says the Sunday Mirror.

He and his family moved from their caravans on to a council estate in Doetinchem, near the German border, in the 1990s.

They remain a tight-knit community and the Buttner clan have celebrated Alex's move to United in some style.

"We want to hire at least three, possibly four, big coaches'', said Manus, a close friend of the Dutch defender. "He is the idol of all of us on the camp. As soon as he has a place in the team, we will be there in Manchester."

Alex's father Christiaan was a pro footballer at De Graafschap and Vitesse Arnhem, and he was even offered a contract at top Dutch club Feyenoord, but he became homesick and wanted to return to the camp.

But Buttner Snr said: "Alex is different. He has been away from home a few times and Manchester United really look after him.

"We were told that Sir Alex Ferguson has been crazy about my boy for years.

"Well, that says it all, doesn't it?"
