Nicky Butt is desperate to see Michael Owen sign a new contract at Newcastle United.

The midfielder said: "Everyone at the club wants Michael to stay. I think he wants to stay himself but there's nobody you can speak to about contracts at the minute.

"He's just taking his time to come back. I'm sure the manager knows what he's all about.

"We don't want Michael to come back too quickly and then lose him for months and months."
