Speaking at this week's international get-together, Burley praised his new recruits: "Terry I've known for a long, long time, he's been involved in Scottish football for 22 years now so his knowledge of the Scottish game is excellent. I know and trust him and he thinks along the same lines as me.

"Steven, as a captain at Hearts [was] second-to-none - in the dressing room he led by example and wanted to do things right and very professionally. He has got the greatest respect from everybody who has worked with him."

The new manager called up a 27 man squad for this week's gathering and has admitted there are likely to be changes for next month's friendly with Croatia.

"There will be changes, no doubt about that and I will have a look at different people in view of the World Cup coming up."
