Butcher: Man Utd signing Manucho can be exceptional striker

Former England captain Terry Butcher says Manchester United have signed potentially an "exceptional striker" in Angola international Manucho.

Manucho is currently on-loan at Panathinaikos and Scotland assistant boss Butcher, who covered the African Nations Cup for the BBC, said: "I watched Manucho play for Angola and was very impressed by what I saw.

"He will be a major threat if he is involved.

"He is a big lad with great ability and he scored a fantastic 25-yarder against Egypt. He uses his strength very well and he is an extremely intelligent player.

"Manucho won't be pushed around or battered out of a game. Added to that, he certainly knows where the goal is. He can improve on aspects of his game, but he is a handful - no doubt about that. You can see he just loves playing football. He does a lot of things very much off the cuff and is always looking to move into dangerous positions. Manchester United have got a very good player - one with the potential to develop into an exceptional striker."
