Bury chairman seeks to replace axed Clark quickly

Lee Clark has left Bury as manager

Former Sunderland and Newcastle midfielder Clark was sacked this week, having saved the club from relegation to League Two last season.

Bury chairman Stewart Day hopes to find a replacement in the coming days.

He told the Daily Express: "I'll take my time but I won't take too long.

“The key will be to get the right person in and we hope to have that done before the Gillingham match in two weeks' time.

“The Woking game this weekend is key for us. We want to do well in the FA Cup and the financial rewards are substantial for this football club.

“It was not a lengthy decision. Based on recent results it was not good enough and we had to take action."
