Burpo hails Colorado Rapids spirit

Colorado Rapids standby goalkeeper Preston Burpo is ready for the challenge.

Burpo who was called into the Colorado Rapids line-up after first choice keeper Matt Pickens picked up a back injury is ready to take the gloves and do the job for his club.

"The coach threw me in, and things went well Saturday and really went our way Tuesday," said Burpo.

"We got a little bit of luck, and credit to the guys who played in front of me -- they did a phenomenal job.

"You prepare and, if you are picked to play, you are picked to play," he added.

"There are a lot of the same players that we had last year and we have the kind of spirit we started to have last year so credit to the staff and players for keeping that going. We have to keep things positive."
