Burns to learn AEK Athens future back in Greece
Nathan Burns will learn if he has a future with Greek club AEK Athens when they return home from Australia.
The former Adelaide United striker joined the Enosis (Union) in 2008 but has failed to grab a regular first team spot and was subsequently sent out on loan to Kerkyra last season who were then in the second division (before gaining promotion to the Greek Super League).
Despite impressive performances for AEK in the Sydney Festival of Football, Burns’ future at the club is uncertain according to coach Dusan Bajevic.
“Burns played very well, he has very good elements to his game, we know that," Bajevic said.
"But there are some other things that play a role in if he will stay with the team.
"When we return to Athens we will decide what's going to be happening with him."
22-year old Burns started in last night’s 2-1 win over English Premier League club Blackburn Rovers and had a hand in both Athens goals which he says will do him no harms in regards to his place in the squad.
"It was probably my first start since coming back into the team so every chance I get I've got to take," Burns said.
"Coming back I can try and show the manager how much I've improved from the last 12 months."
