Burnley striker Vokes determined to make up for lost time

Burnley striker Sam Vokes is up for their FA Cup replay against Tottenham after hitting the equaliser last week.

The striker's late goal at Turf Moor last week will not rank as one of his most spectacular, but he certainly regards it as one of his most momentous.

After nine months on the sidelines with a knee injury he feared could end his career, the 25-year-old was relieved to be back among the goals.

"It was a long nine months with the rehab and everything that goes with it to get back fit," said the Clarets' front-man whose 20 goals last season helped fire Burnley into the Premier League.

"To come back against Liverpool was a fantastic feeling, particularly in front of a full home crowd. All my family were there to watch and it was very special.

"Then to come on against Tottenham and get my first goal since the injury was a great feeling, and quite an emotional moment."
