Charlie Austin has spoken of his delight to have equalled a Burnley goalscoring record.
The 23-year old striker scored for the eighth consecutive match courtesy of his brace in Tuesday night's 4-3 win over Bristol City, levelling Ray Pointer's record set in the 1958/59 season, and was over the moon to have become a part of Turf Moor folklore.
"It felt very special once I slid in that first goal to equal the record," Austin, who has scored 14 goals in his last 8 appearances, told the club's official website.
"I couldn't get away from the fact it (the record) was hanging over me and I was just pleased to get the goal.
"As a youngster with little knowledge of Burnley before I came here, I have to say I'd not really heard of Ray Pointer, but it's great to be up there alongside someone recognised as a club great.
