Burnley are eyeing a move for released Chelsea midfielder Jacob Mellis.

Mellis was dumped by Chelsea last week for his role in their smoke grenade controversy.

The Daily Mail says the 21-year-old was kicked out of Stamford Bridge after setting off a smoke grenade at the club's training ground.

Mellis played for Burnley reserves against Morecambe last week and has continued to train with the club as manager Eddie Howe weighs up an offer for the midfielder.
