Burnley News: Mee only focused on 40 points; Dyche pushed England to choose Cork

Burnley defender Ben Mee says no-one is getting ahead of themselves at Turf Moor.

Mee insists Burnley are keeping their focus on that 40 point mark for Premier League survival.

“That's definitely a target for us, it's our main aim really," the 28-year-old told the Lancashire Evening Telegraph of reaching 40 points.

“We'd like to hit it as quick as possible but we're not looking too far ahead, we're looking to the next games and we're excited about them.

"We've got some big games coming up after the international break leading up to Christmas and we're excited about it. We'll see where it takes us."

Meanwhile, England coach Gareth Southgate says Clarets boss Sean Dyche pushed him to select Jack Cork.

Cork made his England debut in the draw with Germany last week.

“He is playing very well in a team that are playing well," said Southgate.

“He has played at every level for England previously.

“We were needing something a little bit different for these games, so I had a good chat with Sean Dyche as well about Jack and he's delighted with what he's doing.

“He's a great character who has worked with a lot of the squad in the past; a really great moment for him."
