Burnley move for Stoke midfielder Charlie Adam

Burnley have made a move for Stoke City midfielder Charlie Adam.

The Daily Mail says Burnley have made an enquiry for Adam as they seek to replace Joey Barton as their senior midfield general.

The newly-promoted Premier League club lost Barton to Glasgow Rangers after winning promotion from The Championship and see 30-year-old Scotland international Adam as a perfect successor in terms of experience and passing ability.

Adam, who has also previously played for Rangers, Blackpool and Liverpool, has scored 19 goals in 123 games for Stoke City including a memorable shot from inside his own half against Chelsea at Stamford Bridge.
