Burnley midfielder Joey Barton has taken a swipe at French footballers.

Barton spent a season at Marseille and was unimpressed by his teammates' professionalism.

"For French players, they were not training hard for the same as their talent, if you have the talent, you did not train hard and if you trained hard it was for your lack of talent," he told JDD.

"Some even believe that they are more talented if they trained less."

Barton recalled an incident when he called on his teammates to do some extra gym work.

"But it turned out they wanted to do so just to look good before their trip to Ibiza in June."
