The Daily Mail says Burnley boss Owen Coyle opened the Robson bidding yesterday as the Championship side tabled a formal offer for the Dundee United skipper.
The offer of a down payment of around £500,000 and more money later didn't impress the Tannadice club, who still hope to fetch up to £2million for the Scotland international.
Now United must wait to see if Celtic firm up their much-publicised interest or if concrete offers come in from the likes of Ipswich and Nottingham Forest. The English pair are now expected to make formal bids for the player.
