Burnley keeper Heaton: We have to see it through

Tom Heaton feels Burnley are improving but still need to get better at seeing games through.

The Clarets conceded a very late penalty at Arsenal which Alexis Sanchez scored to give the Gunners a 2-1 win.

Burnley had fought back after Shkodran Mustafi's first-half opener, equalising though Andre Gran's penalty in the 93rd minute, following the sending off of Granit Xhaka on 65 minutes.

Heaton was disappointed not to keep out the spot-kick from Alexis, and was also critical of Burnley's inability to at least see out a draw, but is of the belief that Sean Dyche's side is constantly improving.

"We're disappointed," Heaton told burnleyfootballclub.com.

"We went about the game well. We went 1-0 down and then after they had the man sent off we mixed it a little bit and created a few chances.

"We got the breakthrough with the penalty and it was massively disappointing to concede a penalty ourselves so late in the game and come away with a defeat.

"We've got to see it through somehow. The lads are questioning whether it was off-side in the first place and then whether it's a penalty.

"The lads thought it was harsh at the time but I will reserve judgement until I see it again.

"That's by-the-by really. We've got to see it through and, unfortunately, we didn't today.

"We have been on that journey of improving in the last three, four or five games.

"Today is another great example of it. We played some good stuff at times and have gone very, very close and hopefully next time round we'll come away with three points."
