Burnley are chasing Nottingham Forest striker Britt Assombalonga.
TheMirror says Dyche wants Forest's Assombalonga as Andre Gray's replacement.
Gray is a target for big-spending Everton, and Dyche is already making plans to use the expected £10million windfall from the striker's sale to bid for fellow frontman Assombalonga.
Dyche handed the DR Congo international his senior debut as Watford boss in 2012 and remains a fan.
New Middlesbrough boss Garry Monk also wants Assombalonga, who scored 14 Championship goals last season, as he plots their instant return to the top flight and has made the 24-year-old his top striking target.
Forest are likely to demand double the £5.5m they paid Peterborough for Assombalonga in 2014, after handing him a five-year deal last September.
