Burnley fullback Kieran Trippier hopes to use their Premier League promotion to break into the England squad.
The former Manchester City junior has long been rated the best right-back outside the top-flight.
"It's obviously one of the things that's in my mind but I've got to take it day by day," Trippier told the Lancashire Evening Telegraph.
"I played from such a young age for England, but I don't want to just think I'm going to walk into the England team because it doesn't work like that.
"Like I've said to my family and friends, if it happens it happens, if it doesn't it doesn't.
"It all comes down to myself and how I perform as an individual and with the team."
