Burnley fullback Matt Lowton risks retro ban

Burnley fullback Matt Lowton risks a retrospective ban after defeat to Watford.

Lowton could face an FA ban after images emerged of him stepping on Watford winger Isaac Success's hand, reports The Sun.

The 29-year-old endured a nightmare afternoon after his wayward pass led to the Hornets' third in Burnley's 3-1 home defeat.

But it could get worse for the defender if officials look at an incident that happened during the contest.

Eagle-eyed viewers spotted the moment Lowton casually planted his left foot on the winger's hand while he was sprawled out on the floor.

The referee missed it at the time but it could be further investigated by an FA panel and if found guilty, he could receive a three-match ban.
