Burnley have re-signed striker David Nugent on loan until the end of the season from fellow Premier League strugglers Portsmouth. He returned to Pompey last week and Clarets boss Brian Laws confirmed over the weekend that he was still trying to bring Nugent back to Turf Moor before the close of the transfer window.

Nugent has struggled to make an impact at Portsmouth since his 2007 arrival from Preston North End and a return to the north west has helped to rekindle the 24-year-old's career.
