Burnley chief Paul Fletcher says the board is confident going into their debut Premiership season.
He said: "I'm very relaxed about it. It would be stupid of me to say we will be in the top half ... but you never know. We intend to stay in the Premier League but we know we need luck to be coming our way."
Fletcher played for Burnley the last time they were in the top flight. He was promoted with them and was part of the side that went down in 1976.
He said: "I didn't think it would take so long to get back, but you could see the signs of decline.
"We've got a stand named after our old chairman Bob Lord, but it should really have been named after Martin Dobson because he was the player sold to pay for it. That team broke up and we had some bad times after that."
