Burnley boss Sean Dyche warns players over social media

Burnley boss Sean Dyche has warned his players of the perils of social media.

Andre Gray is preparing to return after serving a ban for a homophobic tweet he made over four years ago.

"The game has radically changed off the pitch," said Dyche. "It is a whole different profession now, even to when I was playing.

"I just think it (social media) opens up an unnecessary moment. I don't think it's a useful tool (for footballers) but that is not to say there aren't good things: look at Charity work. How quickly you can get a message out.

"Unfortunately with life, often people want to vent. And if they have got a chance to vent directly at you… well, I just wouldn't put myself up for that. That's my view on social media.

"He's now a big thing in the Premier League.

"We all know the bigger the spotlight and more the enormity of the challenge, the more comes your way. He is adapting to all those challenges. It comes with the territory. I'm certain he will be ready when called upon."
